THE SIAMESE

"The dog you don't need to take for a walk"

The siamese is one of the oldest recognized breeds. The origin of the Siamese lies in the Far East. At the end of the 19th century, they were spotted at the temples of Siam by British tourists, on their way through Thailand, previously known as Siam.

The first imported Siamese were all Seal-points, but later appeared that they spontaneously give birth to kittens of other colours as the Blue-point, Chocolate-point and Lilac-point. These four colours, all solid colours, are recognized as the "classic" Siamese colours.

Other colours, as the Red-point, Cream-point, Cinnamon-point, Fawn-point, Tabby-point and Tortie-point are recognized in the USA as "Colorpoint-Shorthair". These "non-classic" colours were created in the United Kingdom in the 50's and 60's and later on.

The body is elegant, slim but muscular. The backside should be higher than the frontside. The legs are long and slim with oval feets. The tail is thin, long and pointed, like a whip.

The head is wedgeshaped with big broad placed eares that form an equilateral triangle with the head. The chin is strong and can't be withdrawn. The eyes are blue, almond-shaped and obliquely placed. The nose is long and straight with a Roman profile that makes a fluid line, without stop, with the crane.

The coat is silky, fine, very short, and with no undercoat. It requires almost no maintenance. You only need to take out the loose hairs by stroking the coat with a chamois-leather.

The Siamese is extremely social, sweet and affectionate. They are very intelligent and learn fast how to play ball. Walking with a leading strain is no problem neither.

That's why the Siamese is called "the dog among the cats". The are very good compagnions to dogs and other cats, and they can spend hours on your lap.

Siamese return all your love in double!
